Modern Main Street
The project began as a urban facelift project along South Main Street in Gainesville, Florida. The owner wanted to update the exterior to attract tenants, and ultimately renovated the interior for design minded occupants. The design preserves the midcentury design of the existing structure, and adds clean finishes, lots of natural light, and modern features.
Architect of Record: Content Modern
Betsy worked at Content Modern before licensure in an architectural designer role. As a member of the close knit team of architects, designers, and contractors, she learned how to bring life back into older commercial properties. It was an amazing learning experience to be a part of Content Modern, and Betsy wants to revitalize existing commercial properties throughout the Gainesville streetscapes with Y Studio.
Main Street Facelifts
The project series began as an initiative with the Gainesville Community Redevelopment Agency to revitalize different Gainesville neighborhoods. The Content Modern design team applied this technique in Jacksonville and it was great to envision old spaces around town. This series looked at the South Main Street corridor from Depot Park south. Each design utilized affordable material options, highlighted the existing design features, introduced new landscaping, and built off of the client’s branding and function.
Architect of Record: Content Modern
Betsy worked at Content Modern before licensure in an architectural designer role. As a member of the close knit team of architects, designers, and contractors, she learned the in’s and out’s of modern and traditional residential design. This includes how to communicate with clients effectively, build cohesive and clear construction documents from 3D models, understand how materials and structures get built through sections and construction details. It was an amazing learning experience to be a part of Content Modern, and Betsy is able to bring traditional and modern residential architecture and design to new clients in Gainesville and the surrounding areas with Y Studio.
